The Club runs courses to help our Members progress through their Radio Communications Exams, and we have a 100% success rate from our students to date.

Our home at the Britannia Hotel is an RSGB Registered Examination Centre, and we have hosted Foundation and Intermediate Exams there this year.

Our first Foundation Licence Training Course is now complete, and the second group of candidates will be starting their training soon.
Having completed the course, the candidates are now able to obtain their Foundation Licences, which gives them access to most of the Amateur bands with 10 watts of power: this is sufficient to make worldwide contacts, or join in local radio nets with our Members.
The Club will be running further courses for the Foundation, Intermediate and Advanced Licences, as detailed below.
These are held in the evenings (from 7 to 9:30pm) at the Britannia Hotel, Beaumont Road, Bolton.
| Course | Dates |
| Foundation Licence | Mondays, 28-Jul-2008 to 20-Oct-2008 |
| Foundation Licence | Mondays, 27-Oct-2008 to 8-Dec-2008 |
| Intermediate Licence | Mondays, 3-Nov-2008 to 26-Jan-2009 |
| Advanced Licence | Starting early in 2009 |
Our courses currently cost £40 for the Foundation Licence, and £65 for the Intermediate Licence.
These fees include room hire, training materials (including a kit for the Intermediate course), the RSGB manual and the RCF Exam Fee.
All candidates must also join the Bolton Wireless Club (annual membership fee £10).
There is a minimum number of candidates required for us to put on a course, but you can reserve your place in advance on the next one by payment of the course and any membership fees due.

Some of these classes run in parallel with our main Club meetings (in a separate room), but many are dedicated training evenings, some of which will include practical assessments and demonstrations.
