We have a programme of twice-monthly meetings, each of which includes a lecture or activity session of some kind, including operating our Club Stations GX0BWC or GX1ONE from some of these.
Through the summer months, we've organised some outdoor activities, such as portable and contest operations, radio direction-finding (DF) hunts and Special Event Stations:

2m QRP portable contest operating on Sunday 8-Jun
80m contest operating on Thursday 19-Jun
2m DF-hunts on 23-Jun, 28-Jul and 11-Aug
VHF field-day contest operating on Saturday/Sunday 5/6-July
"Radio play-day" at Urmston Scouts' HQ on Saturday 2-Aug
4m portable contest operating on Sunday 17-Aug
"Railways On The Air" Special Event Station GB4WLR on Sunday 28-Sep

The Club Station operates in the 2m low-power contest Our first Candidate passes his Intermediate exam Jack G8HIK demonstrates APRS at the Urmston play-day

Now that we are a Registered Centre for the RCE examinations, we'll be running training courses to help our Members to climb up the Licensing ladder: we've already got one through his Intermediate exams.

Alternating with our Monday night meetings, we also get together on the air for Club Nets; listen out for G0BWC/A, G1ONE/A and many of our members between 8 and 10pm on the following bands/modes:
2m FM and SSB, 6m FM, 4m FM, 70cm FM, 10m FM, 160m and 80m SSB.
Our Club Nets regularly attract over a dozen stations, sometimes using simultaneous channels on 2m, 6m and 4m. We occasionally spread out into the 10m, 160m and 80m bands too, where we've linked up with Club members all the way from South Wales and Cambridge!

Please call in if you hear us - you don't need to be a Club Member to join our Net!

As well as voice telephony, we'll also try out a number of different modes throughout the year, and try to link up with our Members further afield during their holidays.

Part of the Club's VHF antenna farm in May 2008 (the 4m dipole is lower down the mast). This allows us to operate the Club Station on the 6m, 4m, 2m and 70cm bands Keith and Bob discuss the restoration of a proper wireless at a meeting in March 2008 Operating GB4WLR for Railways On The Air weekend in September 2008

We operate our Club Stations on air during some evening and weekend contest sessions, and as we're affiliated to the Radio Society of Great Britain, we'll be entering some of their AFS events.
