Welcome to the Bolton Wireless Club ( G8WY / G0BWC / G1ONE )

( Affiliated to the RSGB, RAIBC, & BYLARA )

Winners of the UKAC Club Championship, 2009-12

QSL front

We are a forward-thinking group, with members ranging from G2 to M6 licensees and SWLs, the perfect place to nurture your enthusiasm for all aspects of this fascinating hobby.

After a fifteen-year break the Club was revived in 2007, initially to provide a focus for radio enthusiasts in and around the Bolton area, but by the end of 2009 we had over seventy members from all over the North-West, enjoying a full programme of Club events through the whole year. This continues today, see the Activities pages for more details.

Our Club is a Registered Centre for the Radio Communications Examinations. We have a busy training programme to help our Members progress up the Licensing ladder, and we've already got dozens of them through their exams: see our Training page for details.

Activities

Smithills Weekend 1/2 Sept 2012

VHF-NFD Weekend 7/8th July 2012

BWC operated in VHF National Field-Day from the top of Winter Hill, on 6m, 4m and 23cm, and we also had 2m and HF running for part of Sunday, when the Backpackers' event took place. The WX was very kind to us and we managed to stay dry for most of the time over the two days of operation. The Club provided a free BBQ and drinks, and everyone seemed to enjoy the event, so roll on the next one.

Weekend at Smithills Hall for "Museums on the Air 2012"

GB0SHM Card

This was held over the weekend of 16/17th June, including overnight camping and HF and VHF operation on both days. A great time was had by all who attended, although the weather was not kind on Saturday, but we did manage the BBQ. Notice the Club's new green operating tent on on the left of the picture.
